How I Transformed my Business

If we’ve not chatted together already, my name is Nicky Pasquier (that’s pronounced “Pass-kee-yay”!)

I have the honour of being just one of 56 Canva Verified Experts in the world.

In addition, I’m an official Canva Creator, meaning I spend many happy hours designing templates for the Canva library. You can view my portfolio here

I’m passionate about helping women in business create stunning visual content that captivates their audiences and brings them closer to achieving their business goals.

I’m completely self-taught and started using Canva back in 2014 to create simple images for my blog.

From there I went on to develop a passion and a niche skill for visual content marketing.

The journey hasn’t been easy and involved very steep learning curves, but it’s provided me with some invaluable lessons.

Canva changed my life…

Prior to 2013 I’d been working as a senior legal PA for various law firms in the South West of England. I loved the work, but the working environment was toxic.

So I quit to start my own business.

Needless to say I struggled from the outset. I had no prior experience of running a business, and absolutely no marketing or social media experience.

Finding clients was difficult and work was very on / off as I lurched from ‘feast to famine’ every month.

But then I discovered Canva and it transformed my business and my life.

My Business Transformation

The key to my transformation lay in discovering the power of visual content as a low-cost, long-term marketing strategy.

By designing simple, relevant graphics to accompany each new blog post I shared on social media, I began to increase engagement levels and drive more traffic back to my website.

That was a bit of an ‘Aha!’ moment.

From that point on I read as many articles and studies as I could about visual content and marketing.

Canva enabled me to create as many graphics as I needed in order to market my business. It cost a fraction of the cost social advertising.

So when experts were all saying, “You’ve got to take out Facebook ads”, I saved money by implementing my own marketing blueprint.

Gradually I increased my brand visibility, attracted a niche target audience, grew an email list and ultimately grew my business.

It felt so good!

And it marked a real turning point in my life and one which opened so many doors.

“Be a Force for Good”

One of Canva’s brand mottos is “Be a force for good”.

As such I’m delighted to announce that I will be donating 5% of my online course profits to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a charity which is very close to my heart.

I’ve been following the Trust, donating when I can and regularly adopting orphaned elephants since 2010. Please do take a look at the incredible work they do.
